I used to think that if I ate healthy food, my digestion would improve. But even though I carefully selected and prepared whole food I still dealt with digestive issues.
It almost didn’t matter what my medical professionals suggested, what different protocols I tried, I was still bloated, uncomfortable and upset after each meal.
Fast forward 10 years and I now understand very well that the state of my nervous system simply wasn’t compatible with eating and properly digesting my food.
I would often eat in a state of tension and anxiety – my heart racing, my stomach tied up in a knot, all the while worrying about the next task at work. I worked, ate and lived in fight or flight.
I would try to be mindful about the food in front of me, and pay attention to colors, textures and taste, but the anxiety was like a constant background noise. I was mindful and my body was anxious all at the same time.
During my years of training in Somatic Experiencing, a biological model for discharging stress and traumatic memory from the body, my digestion improved significantly. Not only was I able to eat a variety of foods, but food was enjoyable again.
It became a source of wellbeing and joy, it was no longer a source of pain and suffering.
Today, I work with students all over the world, who, like me, have tried everything under the sun and still struggle to have the balanced digestion that supplements, diets and professionals promise.
I created this webinar so you can learn some of the powerful somatic tools that helped me heal my digestive system and find peace with food.
I hope you join me!
